Casa Giddings History

Casa Giddings History

The Casa Giddings story is one about a man with a vision. Famed architect, Edward Paul Giddings, was a pioneer and a visionary. His roots run deep in Mexico. His passion for free-diving in the warm waters of Mexico is where his inspiration was born. He instantly fell in love with the land and its people, and thus was inspired to create the beautiful “Ocho Cascadas” in Puerto Vallarta. He broke ground in the late seventies on a vertical hill, fueled by burros, pulleys, and dedicated workers to help fulfill his dream. It was said it couldn’t be done. A year-and-a-half later, with astounding results, Edward Giddings overcame many obstacles to achieve his vision. He was awarded the coveted “American Institute of Architects Honor Award,” very thankful and ecstatic vacationers, and a hugely successful business endeavor.

From there Edward Giddings moved his sights to a place called Cabo San Lucas. Rumors alleged that Cabo San Lucas possessed coral reefs, crystal-clear water, and big pelagic fish just offshore. He took his wife Patricia (who was also the interior designer and business partner for both projects) and their children Mark, Greg, and David to this new remote destination, and instantly fell in love with the arid and desert tropics. The wheels of creativity were in motion and he envisioned the amazing Cascadas de Baja, despite warnings from prospective partners who said, “You will lose your shirt.” Ed, who by now was affectionately called “El Rey” by his workers moved ahead with his project. The resort was an instant success with its sought-after majestic, yet understated architecture. Cascadas de Baja became a jewel and a refuge by providing a tropical village by the sea that has inspired so many people over the years!

Casa Giddings embodied everything he wanted for his family. A virtual Shangri-La with an indoor-outdoor pool, a swim-up palapa poolside bar for the adults, and a sunning deck that falls onto a private beach where the view of the arches of “Land's End” could not be better viewed.

This is where he was truly at home with the people he cherished in a place he loved. Over the years he and his family have immensely enjoyed vacationing with their own families and friends, and have built their fondest memories which will be cherished for a lifetime. As the years passed they saw that they could create an opportunity for other families who can also share in the experience. The Giddings family came to the decision that they would like to share their unique and wonderful home with other families as well. The formerly exclusive home of the Giddings family is now being shared with other discerning families who want to create a lifetime of memories with their own families. The Giddings family is very excited and wholeheartedly agrees that Edward Giddings' legacy will not only bring joy and happy memories for many other families as well. After all, the best experiences are the shared experiences with the people you care about. Bienvenidos!
