Club Cascadas Corona Virus Update
21 March 2020
To our Members and their Guests:
Your Board and on-site management continue to watch the rapidly changing situation.
The Club remains open with all staff taking the recommended precautions to prevent any transmission of Covid-19. We will immediately take measures to coordinate evaluation of any person on-site who exhibits symptoms of infection, and we will quarantine as necessary.
The reported incidence of Covid-19 in Mexico is increasing as testing proceeds. To date, only one case has been confirmed in Los Cabos in someone who brought it with them.
Our Canadian members should communicate with your airline for flight information and about expected cancellations. If Members remain at the Club, they will be allowed to use available unoccupied villas. We will not charge the stranded members any fees for their use of the villas. The staff will greatly appreciate their tips.
Flights to and from the US continue at the moment. The border closure announced Friday by the US State Department is being applied so far only to land crossings, but that situation could change at any time. Again, Members who shelter-in-place at the club while awaiting flights will be accommodated using available vacant villas.
No refunds of Maintenance Fees are planned or should be expected. The Club needs to conserve all funds paid by Members to continue operations and maintain financial stability.
The Club intends to remain open until Mexican authorities request us to close or the airport closes. We will continue to pay our staff their salaries. Many staff depend on tips to augment their salaries. The Board is considering how to provide financial assistance to those who are suffering from the low occupancy and the potential departure of all Members and guests. In the case of a shutdown, the Board is considering how to best utilize our paid staff to perform additional maintenance of the Club and perhaps accelerate the remodel efforts planned for 2020.
Trading Places International has closed its offices in Orange County as directed. TPI employees are working from home, but please expect that some services may be limited.
Please visit the Members Corner for more information and updates regarding COVID 19.
